Stoker grate systems are the preferred combustion solution when fuel flexibility and low operational costs are the priority. Through SCS's acquisition of the McBurney Corporation, we now offer the proven Modul-Pak® hybrid biomass boiler — a unique design that combines the advantages of a watertube furnace with a multipass firetube boiler. The upper watertube furnace water-cools the primary combustion chamber, reducing flame temperature before gases enter the firetube section, resulting in a highly efficient and thermally balanced system.
The Modul-Pak® supports a wide range of firing configurations, including gas and oil burners, stationary grates, and continuous ash discharge stokers such as air and water-cooled vibrating grates. It is an ideal choice for industrial facilities seeking a compact, adaptable boiler that can handle multiple fuel types while keeping both capital and maintenance costs in check.

SCS offers utility and industrial grade Bubbling Fluidized Bed (BFB) boiler systems capable of producing 35,000 to 400,000 PPH of saturated or superheated steam. BFB technology is the go-to combustion solution for facilities burning high-moisture fuels or fuel blends that are poorly suited to grate-based systems — including paper mill sludge, biomass with high moisture content, agricultural residues, and a broad range of process wastes.
Compared to other combustion technologies, BFB systems deliver inherently lower uncontrolled emissions of NOx, SOx, CO, VOCs, and particulate matter, along with higher combustion efficiency and reduced long-term fuel consumption. The open bottom design minimizes maintenance downtime and extends bed material life.
